Why are gamers so mad?

I'm starting to notice a trend with gamers since late 2012 with the review of Resident Evil 6 when it got a 4/10 (which it deserves it because it's not very good) I noticed that there was a spike in aggression in the comments section on Gamespot. So why is this? Is it because fans are protecting a franchise they love and they can't except that it's a bad game?

It's not just with reviews of games that get a negative review. There has been a sudden anger and rage with positive reviews such as the "hate out of ten" (8/10). This boggles my mind why the gaming community is so angry about a game getting an 8/10, for example Gamespot got a bashing from the community last year because they didn't give games like GTA V or the Last of Us a perfect score. Within these comment sections I've the most disgusting comments attacking reviewers personally because they dear to do their job properly especially the attacks on the GTA V review because it got a near perfect score of 9/10.

Gamers of today seem to deny the facts that there is a problem with a game, there is no such thing as a perfect game there is always going to be a few problems if that is a glitch that ruins the experience or if there something questionable such as political and ethical issues. Some of the feedback from the community have stated that political and ethical issues have no place in a game, but that is not the case if you really want people to except video games as art you need to acknowledge these issues games such as GTA and Metal Gear Solid bring to the table.

On another agenda I watched the review of Dark Souls II from Gamespot it wasn’t a negative review, it was one a couple of comments from users on youtube completely dismissing the game because apparently it looks like a PS2 game. Let just say have you played a PS2 game recently they do not look that, you cannot have a game on that scale and that much detail on a PS2. This also has become a recent aspect of gaming since the next gen was announced/released examples such as Watch Dogs, Battlefield and even GTA V. Its comments like “This game is going to crap on current gen” and that’s not always the case I received a review copy of Thief for the Xbox 360 from Square Enix and I think it looks great considering it’s on a ten year machine. Other comments that litter trailers for games are only coming out on Xbox 360 and PS3 “why is this not on next gen?” Because it was not designed for the next gen consoles it’s not as easy as slapping native 1080p and 60fps it takes more than that. People keep saying that they want GTA V for PS4 and Xbox One it’s not going to happen because they worked on the game for over five years on the current gen machine they’ll have to do a complete overhaul to make it for the new consoles.

In summary I just think people need to calm down and go into reviews with an open mind and if you don’t agree with the reviewer fine, but be articulate and constructive with your argue and not call the critic a “fucking arsehole” because if we keep acting juvenile the general public will not take us seriously.

White Pearly Gates of Gaming Heaven.

Bristol is strange and wonderful place which can be good and bad, but what I love about my home city is that there is variety culture from film, music and even gaming. There is a little game shop that I like to go to at least once a week and that shop is called pink planet, what’s so special about this place is that you can by games from new to old, from you Xbox 360 to your NES; it caters for gamers of every age.
It’s just the sheer amount of variety that you find in this grotto of interactive entertain and it’s all for a reasonable price (depending how rare a game is) for example I got a PS2 again recent and I bought GTA San Andreas and Abe’s Odyssey for £13.99 that’s a great bargain for two fantastic gems of gaming.
This is a great place to go if you are looking for some of those obscure titles on older consoles because chances are that they have it. There is a colossal variety of games on every platform you can think about from the, you want Mario All Stars for SNES yep they’ve got, want Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes sure but you’ll have to shed a bit of coin for that title.
What I’m getting at is that you don’t really see these local and independent stores anymore because of the big titans such as the super markets sell games and you can pick them up as you do your weekly shop. The only thing is the shop assistants probably don’t have a clue about games, but I digress. I don’t want to see these shops to disappear from the face of the Earth; back in May 2013 it looked to be game over for these businesses when the Xbox One was announced because their original plan was to put DRM in the system so you could not play used games unless you paid a fee. Fortunately Microsoft back pedalled when Sony to a dump on them with their 30 second video poking fun at them by showing how share a used game.
In the future and beyond I feel that the world will always need these shops to venture in and jut look for the 30-40 years of video game innovation and it’s a great way to introduce these games to a younger generation, to show the origins of this medium so please don’t go anywhere Pink Planet.
